Brand — Hosting and managed infrastructure

YNVAR

YNVAR provides hosting, cloud infrastructure and managed environments for websites, online stores, applications and business platforms.

The work

Infrastructure that is built, run and kept running

YNVAR is the Apefo brand responsible for infrastructure. The work starts with provisioning: specifying and building servers and cloud resources for the workload they will carry, then configuring the operating system, web server, database and runtime that the software above them depends on. Getting a system live is the smaller half of the job.

A managed environment divides the responsibility. The customer owns their site, store or application; YNVAR owns everything underneath it — the server, the software stack, deployment, monitoring, backups, updates and recovery when something fails. Environments are sized and configured around what actually runs on them, and the same team that builds an environment is the one that keeps it in service.

What is included

What a managed environment covers

These are the operational tasks that sit behind a hosted workload, whether or not anyone notices them.

01

Provisioning

Specifying and building servers and cloud resources for a given workload, then configuring the operating system, web server, database, runtime and network so the application has what it needs to run.

02

Deployment

Moving code and content into production, providing staging alongside live where it is needed, and handling migrations from existing hosting with the cutover planned rather than improvised.

03

Monitoring

Watching availability, resource use and error rates so that faults surface from the system’s own signals rather than from a customer noticing first, and so growth in load is visible before it becomes a limit.

04

Backups

Taking regular backups of files and databases, keeping them separate from the systems they protect, and verifying that a backup restores to a working environment rather than assuming it will.

05

Updates

Applying operating system and server software updates, tracking security advisories that affect the stack in use, and scheduling changes so that patching does not disrupt the workload it is meant to protect.

06

Recovery

Restoring service after a failure, a corruption or a change that went wrong — bringing systems back from backup, rolling back where that is the faster route, and establishing the cause so the same fault is not carried forward.

Workloads

What runs on the infrastructure

Different workloads fail in different ways, and each is configured for what it has to do.

01

Websites

Corporate, marketing and content sites, where what matters is consistent response times, content that can be updated without involving an engineer, and a stack that is kept current instead of frozen at the version it launched on.

02

Online stores

E-commerce platforms handling checkout, payment processing and stock data, where traffic is uneven, the database is the constraint more often than the web server, and an outage is counted directly in lost orders.

03

Applications

Web applications and services with their own runtimes, dependencies, background processing and data stores, which need an environment configured for that specific software rather than a general-purpose host.

04

Business platforms

Internal and customer-facing systems that an organisation depends on to operate, where access control, data retention and a recovery path that has been tested matter as much as raw performance.

Within the group

The layer the rest of the group runs on

YNVAR is one of four brands operated by Apefo Ltd, and it is the one the others depend on. The same provisioning, monitoring, backup and recovery work sits underneath the group’s own products as sits underneath the workloads YNVAR hosts for clients.

That keeps infrastructure a specialised job rather than a problem each brand solves separately. Seoryx, JNET Solutions and CasiBits are built and run as their own products, and the servers and environments beneath them are YNVAR’s responsibility. Where JNET Solutions develops or configures a system, YNVAR is where that system can be hosted and maintained afterwards.
